Halton Regional Police say they were called to the Syl Apps Youth Centre on Iroquois Shore Road at about 2 p.m. to assist staff in controlling a disturbance involving a number of youths in custody. Police were able to quickly restore order and ensure the safety of all the staff and inmates. People taken to hospital As a result of the disturbance, five inmates and a youth worker were taken to hospital for treatment. The youth worker was treated and released for a minor injury. The five youths remained in hospital for treatment. Police say the 20 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating and charges are pending. The Syl Apps Youth Centre is a 120,000-square-foot facility that houses up to 48 youths. SPRING CLEANING SPECIAL OFFER: Man assaulted in park Halton police are looking for one suspect after a man was assaulted in Harman Gate Park Monday (June 6). Around 10:30 p.m., the victim was walking through the park, near Dundas Street and Sixth Line, when a man he did not know approached. Police said the suspect asked for the victim's wallet. When he did not hand it over, he was punched in the face. The suspect fled the area following the assault. Nothing was stolen and the victim was not seriously injured. The bearded-suspect is described as being in his 20s. He wore a black hoodie and dark sweat pants.
