Sale for Rebounders Hip Hip Hooray - the ninth annual Walk for Bone and Joint Health will be held on Sunday, June 4th, at Centennial Plaza, in front of the Oakville Central Library. Registration will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. The walk begins at 11:15 a.m. Participants, mostly former orthopaedic atients - people who have had hip, knee and other joint replacements, will walk east along Lakeshore Road to Reynolds Street, and back. "We'll walk about a kilometre," said Hip Hip Hooray chair Howard Rafuse. "The route is designed to allow for easy access, has a good hard surface, and benches along the way - plus restaurants and coffee shops so people can stop and have a coffee. In some cases, some of die people who will be participating have just come out of hospital. "This is not a marathon - not a race. It's a celebration of mobility," said Rafuse. He expects the event to be over by 1:30 p.m. He anticipates having at least 400 partici pants. "We're reviving the walk in Oakville," said Rafuse. "We had one in 1995 and had 400 people out." Walkers collecting more than $30 in spon sorships will receive a free T-shirt Sponsor forms are available a orthopaedic doctors' offices, physiotherapists' offices, and the orthopaedic department at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The top fundraiser at each walk will be automatically entered in a draw to win a free trip for two to the Caribbean. Oakville's Hip Hip Hooray is one of over 70 walks across Canada, attracting some 12,000 participants. The walk*began in 1992 when orthopaedic patients, families and friends joined surgeons, nurses and health care professionals to raise research funds. This year, the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation hopes to raise $2 million. For more information, call Howard Rafuse, Hip Hip Hooray Chair at 632-3467.
