A family owned restaurant, the four members of the Sannachan crew simply decided it was something they wanted to do. "Everyone loves an Irish pub," explains Linda Sannachan, co-owner of the restaurant. "Everywhere you go, you're bound to find an Irish pub. This seemed like a perfect location." Time will tell, but so far all the customers coming in are saying "Finnegan's Wake is exactly what this core area needed". The timing couldn't have been better either, as people were looking for some true Irish entertainment as St. Patrick's Day neared. And true Irish culture is what they found as the celebra tions began on the eve of the Irish holiday tradition, boasting a band made up of the brothers and sisters of the Barra MacNeils, called Slainte Mhath. The celebration continued the next day with live dancing provided by three different local Irish dancing schools, including the Oakville Goggin School of Traditional Irish Dancers, and 3MDM (Three Men and a Drum Machine) performing live. Finnegan's Wake received a warm reception as they were full to capacity by 4:00 p.m. that day. The fanfare hasn't died down as they offer a fabulous enter tainment line-up four nights of the week. Wednesday nights their houseband, 3MDM, perform, while Thursday night is Ladies Night with a DJ spinning disco and retro tunes. Friday and Saturday night entertainment varies but is always high-quality live entertainment. Kick back and have a beer or test your step ping skills, because either way Finnegan's Wake will keep you entertained. Entertainment isn't all this Irish pub has to offer, as their kitchen offers a spectacular array of dishes, from traditional `pub grub' to many delectable dishes. The menu includes a house favourite of Fish and Chips (thinly battered fresh Halibut, and fabulous fries!), a Pan Seared Salmon entree with roasted new potatoes, and some delicious vegetarian pasta dishes that you can add chicken or shrimp to if so desired. Their menu is bigger and better than before, and keep your eyes open for some patio promotions coming soon! They also have an Express Lunch, perfect for a midday break.
