A d v o c a tin g fo r a S tro n g H a lto n Halton Region is advocating to other levels of government for long-term, predictable funding and legislative changes to ensure the interests of Halton residents are addressed in key areas such as growth management, infrastructure and community well-being. Halton is a great place to live and in order to maintain the high quality of life we enjoy, while building complete communities, there are a number of critical supports we require from both the Provincial and Federal governments. Growth m anagem ent : In order to grow, Halton Region must ensure that the infrastructure and human services required to support development are planned, coordinated and adequately financed in advance of need. Infrastructure : Investments in infrastructure and transportation strengthen our economy and make Halton a desirable place to live and do business. Halton Region's 10-year capital infrastructure program totals $4.1 billion, including $1.9 billion to fund the state of good repair, but we still need a long-term commitment to sustainable funding from both the Provincial and Federal governments. Com m unity w ell-being : Affordable housing, public health and supports for Halton's vulnerable populations continue to be underfunded by other levels of government. Funding shortfalls for public health continue to grow and are projected to total $9.7 million in 2017. Working with all levels of government, we ensure that Halton remains a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire. To learn more, visit halton.ca/advocacy .
