ArtHouse grows with newOntarioTrillium Foundation grant Oakville-based ArtHouse will be able to expand its growing services in Halton, thanks to a new Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) grant. On Saturday, July 1, Oakville MPP and Ontario Labour Minister Kevin Flynn and Halton MPP Indira Naidoo-Harris presented the local organization with a $251,800 OTF Grow Grant, at Bronte Heritage Wa terfront Park, to support its continu ing growth in Oakville and Burling ton, as w ell as for new programming plans in Halton. ArtHouse is an Oakville-based charitable organization that offers free arts programs to children and youths aged seven to 17 years, and seniors, particularly to individuals and families w ho may not be able to afford fee-related activities. "This investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation is wonderful news for hundreds of young people in our communities w ho may not have access to the arts," said the Oakville MPP "Participation in the arts can be so meaningful as they can stimulate a stron ger interest in academic goals, build confidence and self-esteem and can certainly be a catalyst for career opportunities," said Flynn. Naidoo-Harris said art speaks a language every one understands and can have a "profound impact on our lives." "ArtHouse programs intro duce children and youth in Halton to various art forms and provides them with valu able opportunities to grow and learn," said Naidoo-Harris. "I am pleased funding from the Ontario Trillium Founda tion will help ArtHouse con tinue its important work in expanding these exceptional programs and exposing kids to the extraordinary world of art," said Naidoo-Harris. As a result of the OTF grant, more than 1,200 chil dren, youth and seniors will be able to participate annual ly in a wide-spectrum of arts programming they would not have had the opportunity to access if there was a fee involved, the media release stated. "The impact of this Ontar io Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated," said D on Pangman, founder and executive director of ArtHouse. "The OTF has been with us since our earliest days in 2009. (It has) watched us grow and reach more than 5,000 children and youth with 320 free arts programs at more than 40 locations in Oakville and Burlington.
