The husband of an Oak- ville woman who died in May after a fight with breast cancer says his wife didn't lose her battle with the disease because she never let it get her down. Tanya Tucker, a 44- year-old mom to four kids, believed she would beat the illness right to her last days, says her husband Anthony. "It never affected her, never changed her," said Anthony, 42, describing his wife as someone who always prioritized others, even when facing her own significant challenges. "Cancer can divide people, it can put fear in people or it can strengthen people. It never beat her. If any- thing, it just strengthened her." Tanya, born Tanya MacDonald, grew up in Oakville and met Antho- ny in Australia in 2000 at chiropractic college. "She was really clever" and he liked her right away, he said, adding he was drawn to her "beautiful smile, warmth and the fact you could get lost in conversa- tion with her for hours and never want it to end. She radiated love." The couple had two children while in Austra- lia: Sienna, who is now nine, and Mackenzie, who is seven. They moved to Canada in 2014, and Tanya became pregnant with their twins, Jensen and Evangeline, shortly after- ward. Her family was the most important thing in her life, Anthony said. Ta- nya had been told she would not be able to have children but always be- lieved she was meant to have four.
